The sensational result of The XYZ’s latest viewer poll has revealed that over one third (36%) of people believe Donald Duck is responsible for terrorism.
The result of the poll, which did not give respondents the option of naming that which shall not be named as the source of terrorism, found that people find Donald Duck a more credible source of terrorism than mental illness (16%), Islamophobia and racism (8% each), or even guns (a paltry 2%).
When contacted by The XYZ, Mr. D. Duck refused to answer any questions directly, instead muttering under his breath what appeared to be a series of words which, several decades ago, were considered mildly crude.
Given that questions asked in previous XYZ Viewer Polls have included such gems as “Will the left be happy when everyone resembles the Goobacks featured in Season 8, Episode 7 of South Park?” and “Will the world come to an end if the ABC is privatised?” Such results should be taken with a pinch of salt. To paraphrase another great American animation, of all the crazy polls The XYZ has conducted, this one probably ranks somewhere in the middle.
But, as usual, the silliness has a point. People simply do not believe our governments and mainstream media when they tell us, after every atrocity, that the problem is caused by mental health issues, inadequate gun control, or our own attitudes to the “outsiders” and “minorities” living in the West.
There is a common denominator to all of this. To deny it is far more stupid than any rigged XYZ Poll.
