What are our political leaders thinking?

It seems our political leaders can do everything but focus on the victim of Friday’s killing, Curtis Cheng, and the others caught up in the NSW Police headquarters shooting, and the issue of radical Islam.

Immediately after the killing, Minister Malcolm Turnbull was at pains to remind everyone that radical Islamists make up only a “tiny minority” of Muslims. Cold comfort to Mr Cheng’s family, and a diversion to boot.

And there’s this astoundingly insensitive statement from the opposition leader, Bill Shorten:

One rightfully asks, what on earth are our political leaders thinking?
