Queensland’s newly elected Premier David Crisafulli has given us a rare example of an elected government actually respecting the democratic will of the people.
He has axed a so-called “truth telling commission” and repealed a so-called “path to treaty Act” which had been implemented by the former Queensland government, despite “the voice to parliament” being trounced at last year’s referendum.
From their ABC:
Queensland’s Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry will pause its work plan despite concerns stopping it would be a “lost opportunity”, as the newly elected state government vows to end the inquiry.
In the lead-up to Saturday’s election, now-Premier David Crisafulli said his government would not continue with the inquiry and would repeal the state’s Path to Treaty Act.
On Thursday, Mr Crisafulli confirmed it would be scrapped but said he did not wish to make it a “divisive issue”.
It’s not a “divisive issue”, it has the backing of the majority of the state.
Forcing aboriginal identity politics down the throats of Queenslanders who have already rejected the policy is what’s divisive.
“We have made a decision, it is the right decision and we stand by it, but I don’t want to cause angst to people,” he said.
Following Mr Crisafulli’s comments, chairperson Joshua Creamer said the inquiry would pause its workplan until further information was available.
“If the inquiry is formally stopped it will be a lost opportunity for the state,” he said.
“We are not going to get another opportunity at this in the next decade, two decades, in my lifetime.”
Nobody wants there to be another opportunity for this nonsense. Australians made this abundantly clear in last year’s referendum.
It is very telling to compare their ABC’s headline with that of the Australian.
Elites and the woke left are insisting that this is only a “pause”. This reveals their attitude toward democracy. When they use the expression “our democracy” they literally mean “their own agenda”. If the people vote against their agenda, it is a threat to their democracy, so they feel entitled to push on with their own agenda in defiance of the democratic process.
Thus state governments have pushed on with “voice to parliament” styled pipedreams, and so-called “treaties” (even though we were told that the claim that a “voice to parliament” would lead to a “treaty” was a conspiracy theory.)
Devon Stack recently made an excellent video breaking down how elites and the woke left exploit the legal process, the media and Marxist NGO’s to bypass the will of the people and relentlessly push their agenda.
Getting back to Queensland, it is noteworthy that the Liberal government has actually had the guts to quash this policy, in addition to the “pumped hydro” white elephant. The Liberals are highly sensitive to public sentiment and can appear very based when they need to.
Importantly, both the Liberal Party and the Labor Party have betrayed the Australian people via the bipartisan policy of mass immigration and multiculturalism.
However, Australian politicians and media figures on the fake right have been forced to signal opposition to mass immigration and even support for deportations.
The pendulum is swinging to the right, and activist groups are working to swing the pendulum even further. The challenge for us is to maintain this pressure.
