Table Talk

Penny Wong and the Australian Labor Party fearlessly tackle the really big issues of the day, using Question Time in parliament and a Senate estimates hearing, to demand answers as to how a $590 table was broken on the night former Prime Minister Tony Abbott lost the leadership ballot.

Whereas Labor has traditionally not concerned itself with losses of furniture, or taxpayers money, in the region of $590 million or more; such is the visceral, and irrational, lingering hatred for Tony Abbott, that a $590 table has become a matter for parliamentary debate and even warranted press releases.

Penny managed a look of concern normally reserved for when making false allegations of sexism or homophobia as she concluded, disapprovingly, ‘quite a party.’ The politics of envy (again) perhaps?
