Trump considering repealing birthright citizenship

Donald Trump has revealed in an interview with Axios on HBO that he is considering repealing birthright citizenship in the United States. He states that he had been under the impression that it would take a constitutional amendment, but he has received legal council that that he can do so by executive order.

The God Emperor makes the case:

“Now how ridiculous, we’re the only country in the world where a person comes in, has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all those benefits. It’s ridiculous, and it has to end.”

The 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and the Immigration and Nationality Act confer the right of citizenship on anybody born within and subject to the USA. This jus soli, Latin for “right of the soil” is has in modern times become a legal codification of the magic dirt fallacy, the idea that people can come to a Western country and automatically become European, without the decades of cultural socialisation and generations of DNA to back it up.

It has been exploited by immigrants who have “anchor babies” whom they can then use as a path toward their own permanent residency and citizenship.

Donald Trump has also explained his administration’s plans to deal with the coming wave of illegal immigrants timed by the globalist elite to arrive just before the US Midterm Elections – a number of tent cities which will house them until their asylum claims can be assessed, to ensure that they do not disappear under Barack Obama’s horrendous old catch and release policy.

While this is an excellent step toward dealing with an immediate problem, it is the change to the citizenship laws which are likely to have a longer lasting impact on the numbers and type of immigration to the United States, and a more profound impact on the understanding of exactly who is an American.

As Vox Day points out, when the US founding fathers wrote the following

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

…They intended “our posterity” to mean the sons and daughters of those already living in the United States.
