In one of The XYZ’s many social media threads, a reader was kind enough to share this story of Don Bradman and his peers:
Many years ago I went to a lunch for the surviving Invincibles. I had a 1st day cover signed by Bradman and thought it would be good to get the rest to sign too. They all signed on the bottom. To try and get a bit of balance I asked Sam Loxton to sign on the top. He signed on the bottom, looked at me and said “ I would never put myself above the Don “. Then it hit me. Every single one of them had signed under Bradman’s autograph. That’s respect.
