Melbourne: Far-left activists hurl obscenities at peaceful right-wing protest

It was a sunny Spring* day in Melbourne today, with an official maximum of 18 degrees, however it felt warmer in direct sunlight. Several attractive women were spotted wearing shorts.

A protest was held outside Victoria’s Parliament building on the intersection of Spring Street and Bourke Road in Melbourne’s CBD, pushing for tougher sentencing laws in Victoria in the wake of an immigrant-fuelled crime wave many feel has gone unchecked due to political correctness.

Naturally, far-left extremist counter-protesters turned up.

The XYZ dispatched a reporter to observe the event. He first approached the flank of the official protest, heading south down Spring Street. The overall impression was one of boredom. Police officers seemed largely superfluous as they had little to no problem with the moderate right-wing protesters, and members of the public walked safely within metres of the protest, and sat in nearby cafes eating brunch in mild entertainment.

Blue skies accompanied a peaceful right-wing protest in Melbourne today, pushing for tougher sentencing laws for violent offenders in Victoria.

Bored adolescents watch bored police officers who experience no problems whatsoever with the peaceful right-wing rally.

The XYZ reporter ordered a coffee for himself at a cafe about 15 metres away from the main protest. The strong latte was clearly made with an extra shot as the flavour of milk was not at all overpowering, and the barista had admirably not just run the same shot through twice. The coffee itself however lacked body and character. One would advise to acquire coffee in Footscray in future.

Two pretty girls of Asian appearance bought coffee ahead of The XYZ reporter, and appeared undisturbed.

Our reporter next walked back around the block to Bourke Street and took several films of the far-left protesters, who chanted a series of obscenity-filled ad hominems at the small crowd of ordinary Australians.

Predictably, the label of “fascist” was hurled at the centrist rally:

Just as predictable, the accusation of “nazi” was projected by the rabble of communists, accompanied by obscenities:

This one could be considered a form of cultural appropriation:

Showing a complete lack of understanding of the point of the offical protest, the socialist counter-protesters at one point chanted “free free Palestine”:

In the nastiest moment witnessed by The XYZ, the Marxists chanted “Kill yourself like Adolf Hitler, follow your leader”:

Given that there were several pro-SSM banners brandished by the leftist mob, it is unclear if any action will be taken in the wake of recent legislation banning vilification or intimidation of people based on their political views in the context of the SSM postal survey.

Chris di Pasquale whom The XYZ’s Lucas Rosas points out, is “a prominent organiser for Socialist Alternative, the largest, most violent and most extreme far-left Marxist group in Australia today”, was spotted as having a prominent role in the obscene counter-protest.  Bizarrely, he appeared to be associating with a white male, who even more bizarrely appeared to be leading many of the chants.

Chris di Pasquale, Socialist Alternative.

Finally, it should be noted that of the police officers placed between the two groups, there appeared to be significantly more police facing the far-left group, indicating that police considered the radical leftists to be more likely to commit unsociable acts.

Several rows of police keep a watchful eye on rowdy leftist agitators.

* Technically, Spring in the Southern Hemisphere does not begin until the Vernal Equinox on September 23.

It’s your XYZ.
