In this video, Roy Beck visually presents the scale of poverty around the world and explains why we cannot simply increase migration to care for those living in genuine serious poverty.
We are currently facing an increase in sentimental protests arguing for more open borders, and increasing our annual refugee and migrant intakes. However, this approach is ridiculously out of step with the realities of poverty around the world.
Roy also argues that current migration programs, which often target educated and financially independent members of these communities, removes those members from their countries of origin where their energy and knowledge is most critically needed.
