It is being reported today that the father of the young boy found tragically drowned on a Turkish beach was not fleeing the war in Syria, but fleeing the coast guard. According survivors of the tragedy that claimed little Aylan’s life, the boy’s father, Abdul Kurdi, was actually a people smuggler and was captain of the overloaded boat at the time it capsized.
We already knew that the Kurdi family had been living in safety, in Istanbul, Turkey, the past three years. The claims have been made by survivors of the tragedy that claimed little Aylan’s life, and cast serious doubt on both the story Abdul Kurdi told the global media, and the entire premise on which western nations around the world have been urged to resettle thousands of Syrians.
