What do you get when you have a group of Jews controlling $4 trillion dollars in assets who consider protesting and extracting money fundamental elements of their identity?

When Rabbi Rachel Kahn-Troster began visiting the tomato fields of Florida as an activist more than a decade ago, the stories of farmworkers being treated as slaves were still fresh. The Justice Department had discovered systemic abuse in the industry including cases of pistol whippings, confinement, starvation wages and rampant sexual assault.
But Kahn-Troster, who was working for T’ruah, a human rights group made up of rabbis and cantors, arrived at a hopeful moment. A farmworker organization called the Coalition of Immokalee Workers was putting pressure on the industry to change — and the effort seemed to be succeeding.
Grocers like Whole Foods and fast-food chains such as Taco Bell and McDonald’s were signing on to the Fair Food Program, a binding agreement to source their tomatoes from growers who pay better wages and are subject to a code of conduct. Kahn-Troster and dozens like her in the farmworker movement became known as “tomato rabbis,” who articulated their support through a Jewish lens and enlisted Jewish communities across the country in solidarity campaigns.
Oh gawd, you know when gentiles are being “treated as slaves” Jews aren’t going to be far away in presenting themselves as the proverbial White Knights, as opposed to the Machiavellian Mishnah worshippers who pull the strings on goyim debt enslavement.
But I digress.
The earliest fast food participating buyer who signed up for this Fair Food Program was Yum! Brands (2005) which oversees companies like KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, The Habit Burger Grill, and WingStreet.
In 2008 Burger King and Subway also signed up.
Much could be said about the kosher certification of these companies overall, but Subway is probably the best known for having had a convicted pedophile Jew (Jared Fogle) as its head spokesman up until 2015.
I wonder if “tomato rabbi” Rachel Kahn-Troster thinks having serial plant molesters like Harvey Weinstein will make for positive publicity?
