Relativism is an insidious form of mind cancer, which results in you abandoning any attempt at serious analysis and simply replying “it’s subjective” to every question.
XYZ has extensively covered the flaws of cultural relativism and shown how it leads to displacement level immigration and social disunity, but the devastation of relativism is not only restrained to the political sphere. It literally wrecks lives and murders people every day.
Relativism disables the ability of the victim to make judgements. This isn’t necessarily fatal in the West, when generations of European men have slain all the wolves, blunted all the sharp edges and erected a social welfare net to save everyone from starvation. But every now and then someone with a particularly bad case of relativism runs out of the sphere of power of Western civilization, and is instantly crushed by the realities of the world.
My first example is from someone who in her bubble, believed that the rules of nature did not apply to her. I include her as a victim of relativism, because this lady had the choice that all women who want children are faced with during their fertile years: to focus their energies on dating/fashion/social media/careers and settle later (The Sex & The City option) or to as soon possible, marry a man of equivalent relationship market value and have children. “Relativism” infected this women and made her think that each path was equally valid and equally assured of resulting in children, when in fact objectively one of these options has a significantly higher rate of success:
“Brigitte Adams caused a sensation four years ago when she appeared on the cover of Bloomberg Businessweek under the headline, “Freeze your eggs, Free your career.” She was single and blond, a Vassar graduate who spoke fluent Italian, and was working in tech marketing for a number of prestigious companies. Her story was one of empowerment, how a new fertility procedure was giving women more choices, as the magazine noted provocatively, “in the quest to have it all.”
“Adams remembers feeling a wonderful sense of freedom after she froze her eggs in her late 30s, despite the $19,000 cost. Her plan was to work a few more years, find a great guy to marry and still have a house full of her own children.
“Things didn’t turn out the way she hoped.
“In early 2017, with her 45th birthday looming and no sign of Mr. Right, she decided to start a family on her own. She excitedly unfroze the 11 eggs she had stored and selected a sperm donor.
“Two eggs failed to survive the thawing process. Three more failed to fertilize. That left six embryos, of which five appeared to be abnormal. The last one was implanted in her uterus. On the morning of March 7, she got the devastating news that it, too, had failed.
“Adams was not pregnant, and her chances of carrying her genetic child had just dropped to near zero. She remembers screaming like “a wild animal,” throwing books, papers, her laptop — and collapsing to the ground.
“It was one of the worst days of my life. There were so many emotions. I was sad. I was angry. I was ashamed,” she said. “I questioned, ‘Why me?’ ‘What did I do wrong?’ ”
What did you do wrong indeed?
My second example is of a typical First World Leftist, who can talk a big game about the oppression and violence present in the world, but really has no ability to actually identify it or examine the roots of it. This lack of ability to identify danger or threats is no real handicap in the First World due to the hard work of our forefathers, but sadly Zaida believed that she could take her ideological mission outside of the realm of benevolent Western patriarchy:
“Zaida Catalán was a Swedish Green Party politician who believed in open borders. Zaida was pro-immigration and supported migrant rights. She was the former leader of the Young Greens of Sweden.
“Zaida Catalán was killed while on a UN mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in March 2017. On 12 March 2017, Catalán and another UN employee were kidnapped during a mission near the village Ngombe in the Kasai Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They were both found dead on 27 March. Catalán had been beheaded and was found in a shallow grave.”
Many of XYZ readers are thoroughly redpilled and probably find their internal cynic observing that the above are essentially examples of the “Darwin Awards” for Leftists.
Sadly, those infected with relativism also fail the most basic and fundamental duties, such as protection of their own young:
“An Afghan migrant who molested a 12-year-old Swedish girl was initially not reported to police – because her mother was dating him.
“Abdul Dostmohammadi, 18, was living with his 45-year-old girlfriend in Sölvesborg, southern Sweden, when he sexually molested the 12-year-old.
“When the girl told her what had happened, the mother refused to report him to police as she feared he would be sent back to Afghanistan, court documents reveal.
“Dostmohammadi, now 19, had moved into the family home after he turned 18 and was no longer allowed to live in a care home for under-aged migrants.
“The 45-year-old had worked at the care home, and had offered to take Dostmohammadi in after he became an adult.”
“Dostmohammadi and the 12-year-old had started dancing in the living room, when he started touching her ‘in a way that did not feel ok’.
“When her mother went to the bathroom he put his hand underneath her dress and underwear and touched her genitals, court documents state.
“The 12-year-old told her mother who confronted Dostmohammadi, but no action was taken.
“The perpetrator was allowed to stay in the family home, which the girl said ‘felt weird’.
“Four days after the incident, the girl asked to stay with her father, after which she told her older sister about the events, who in turn told their father.
“He reported it to police and spoke to the 45-year-old, who ‘had not wanted to report ‘because she was scared Dostmohammadi would have to leave Sweden if they did’.
“Dostmohammadi was found guilty of sexual molestation and handed a three-month suspended sentence and ordered to undertake 100 hours of community service.
“Blekinge County Court ruled that he must also pay the victim 15,000 kronor (£1,336) in compensation.”
Not only is the mother an example of full blown “relativism”, but the court system in Sweden is obviously due for a vaccination against relativism as well.
Relativism is so dangerous because it convinces people to disable their sense of self, self-preservation, morality, duty, intellect and threat identification, all to virtue signal and indicate compliance. I can only urge you to gird your mind and the minds of your loved ones with the armor of rational objectivity. Do not allow this cancer to infect you, rather continue the Culture War to obtain rational rule once more.
As to the many millions of hopelessly infected “relativism” victims, steel your resolve for many a tale of suffering, as they are burrowing against the foundations of the defenses that keep them safe. If you are feeling particularly optimistic, you could try and rouse them from their hypnosis, however most times I often find myself wryly observing “It could be that the purpose of [their] lives is only to serve as a warning to others.”
