One of the features which distinguishes Malcolm Turnbull as a politician is his way with words. Unlike many, especially a very boring and repetitive opposition leader who springs to mind, he speaks well, confidently, and is able to convey his knowledge about a subject better than most.
It was certainly this skill at public speaking which distinguished Turnbull from the former Liberal leader whom he replaced, Tony Abbott. Despite assurances from those who know Abbott that, in the flesh, he is warm and personable, in public he came across as stilted, and perhaps as something which he was not.
However, when it comes to substance, it is the former who appears to be lacking, at least in they eyes of many conservative voters, who see his way with words as a cover for a lack of loyalty, and his attempts to ingratiate himself with the Q&A set as a sign of his low conservative credentials.
