To restore Catholic Monarchy, first restore our Civilisation

I have read with both bewilderment and curiosity Adam Piggott’s last few articles in the XYZ recently, where he calls for a return to Catholic monachy and feudal order.

My issues are not so much with what he is proposing but rather the complete absense of explanation or proposal of how such an order should be reestablished.

Who should be King? Who should be Lords? Who should the Catholic Bishops and Pope be? How should they be chosen and elevated? How should this system be restored?

I have no issue with the observation that our current woes can be traced back to the Reformation, Enlightenment and splitting of the Church just over 500 years ago. That subsequent events such as the French Revolution and the two world wars moved us further and further away from collective responsibility and unity under Christ towards individualism and materialism and globalism. This does not help though when it comes to deciding what to do about it.

The Catholic Church is in no better state today than the hundreds of splintered Protestant ones. The current Pope may as well be the Antichrist for all of the heresies and blasphemies he is preaching. The Cardinals are no better, nor have I experienced much reason for hope in the local Catholic churches I’ve attended. Maybe Adam Piggott’s local church is a paragon of former righteousness and glory but that doesn’t help the rest of us.

I have found no hope in the Orthodox Church either. The same woke virus that has infected the West since the end of the 2nd World War has infected all Christian denominations to one degree or another.

As for Christian kings and nobles, again, who? From where? How?

If we look at the English feudal system before Henry VIII made himself head of the English church; it was established by Norman conquest and those Norman nobles had secured their positions via ancestors who 150 years before the Battle of Hastings had raped and pillaged as Viking invaders and only agreed to become Christian in exchange for permanent ownership of land in France. They replaced the Saxon Witan with Norman Barons and historical consensus is that life became less pleasant for the average peasant as a result for a few hundred years. Mainly because the Anglo Saxons were an occupied people and they were ruled by a different group. Until everyone saw themselves as English, not Normans or Saxons anymore, tyranny reigned.

Even if we look at the rest of the Catholic dark ages Europe, the line of kings and nobles are converted to Christianity after coming to power, they didn’t come to power by embracing Christ first. In other words, the feudal system wasn’t unique to Christianity, it was simply how all civilisations organised in ancient times. Christianity simply brought that system under the inflence of the Church. In fact Kings were not the original government structure of God’s people. For 500 years after Moses, Israel had no King but only judges to adjudicate disputes. In 1 Samuel 8:7 God regards the Israelites’ demands for a King to be considered as a rebellion:

“Listen to the voice of the people regarding all that they say to you, because they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being King over them.”

Kings and nobles are just names for positions that naturally exist in all civilisations. Before Saul was appointed as the 1st King of Israel, there were still leaders and hierarchy. A King is just another form of leader. A president or prime minister is just another form of king. What title we give to them or how we choose them is neither here nor there. There are bad kings and bad popes and bad presidents and bad judges and bad prime ministers, etc, etc.

The feudal era was not some golden age free from sin, ungodliness and tyranny. It had its own flaws. Ungodly kings and corrupt priests became widespread and systemic. The Catholic fuedal system didn’t just fall because of outside pressures. People didn’t turn away from God for no reason. The French Revolution couldn’t have succeeded if there was no truth in accusations levelled against the aristocracy.

The Protestant Reformation couldn’t have succeeded if there were no real problems with how the Church was conducting itself at the time. The fact that such revolutions have led to worse problems doesn’t change this.

I choose to promote National Socialism not because it has no potential for corruption, but simply because I find more Godliness in its practioners, past and present, than I find in any other area of society in the past 150 years. It may not be Christian in name, but I find more (real) Christian ethics in its political doctrines than any other political system that can currently be pursued in real life. Because I cannot restore a monarchy without first having a worthy monarch to propose. Thomas Sewell for king? I’m happy with him as political leader for now.

Also it’s not enough to simply sit on the sidelines and bemoan how bad things are. We are commanded to oppose evil with whatever tools we have available to us. I have National Socialism. Some people in the UK have Restore Britain. Ultimately God will decide which tool He will use to bring things back in line. But He will bless those who act, not those who just criticise.

Adam Piggott says Rupert Lowe will fail at restoring the UK, that National Socialism will fail here in Australia. Yet he provides no path or suggestions as to how his preferred order could be established as an alternative. I challenge him to remedy that and then act on it so that those who are persuaded by his argument can follow his example.

In the meantime, let me suggest to Adam how a real Christian order will actually be established again, rather than just wistfully reminisced over.

People of action will stand up against evil and oppose it, using whatever tools are available to them. They will struggle using democracy, activist groups, preaching in a few churches, community groups, etc, etc. Occasionally spontaneous mobs will erupt into violence as the current system pushes harder and harder to repress dissent. These people will be Christian and non Christian but unlikely to be listening to the advice of their local priest or pastor on political matters.

One way or another the current system will eventually fall to people who value truth and hate evil. They will not be perfect, they will not be united in religious belief. What system replaces it and how long it lasts for is a separate issue.

The original Christian Church ran a parallel community for 300 years before Constantine. Often in secret. Whatever the flaws of the original Reformation there should be no doubt that Christianity is desparately in need of one today. We have scripture. We have the writings of the early Church fathers. We have still a few Godly ordained Priests and Pastors. A new parrallel community must be built out of the ashes of the burned out husks of present Church denominations.

The road back to God will also be a parallel and separate one to the road to reclaiming our countries. White Christian men have a duty to travel on both. The Christian path is one of zero compromise and personal example in the private sphere. The road to reclaiming our countries is one of changing plans and strategies in response to enemy opposition in persuit of clearly defined goals in the public sphere.

We are so far removed from Catholic monarchy today that it is fantasy to say we must restore it before we can have our civilisation back. Our civilisation existed long before Catholic monarchy. So if you want Catholic monarchy back, we must first restore our civilisation.
