Former Labor MP, and now chairman of the Essendon Football Club, Lindsay Tanner said today that the Bombers are “shocked” and “mystified” by the suspension delivered to 34 of its current and former players over the club’s 2012 ‘supplements scandal’.
As Essendon struggles to even field a football team for the 2016 season, I feel sorry for the players who, in my opinion have unfairly born the brunt of a penalty which should have been delivered to the club decision-markers, who, after all, provided and administered the ‘supplements’ to the player.
However, I feel no sympathy for the fans who gloated last year when the AFL ‘cleared’ the team of wrong doing.
