Restore Britain will be more of the same

Lance Turner invited me to read his article, The Handing Over: What Fighting World War One did to Us, and to challenge him on it. The context of his challenge is an open letter that he wrote to Frank Wright and Restore Britain. Mr Turner is not convinced by Restore Britain’s claims that they will be able to restore anything at all. He thinks that it’s all too far gone for that. And he is right in his suspicions; Restore Britain will simply be more of the same.

In his Handing Over article, Mr Turner goes into detail of just what was stolen from the average working man as a consequence of the Great War. A society that was based on the local was transformed in four years to a top down financial and administrative state that bought off what it had stolen by giving the average Englishman a democratic vote in his own destruction. And almost everything that he describes in on point. But be that as it may, he misses a much larger point.

Namely that the rot did not begin with the outbreak and conclusion of the Great War. The European nations were already primed for such a disaster through the secularisation of their nations, and the gradual whittling away of power from the hereditary Catholic monarchies. Many events contributed to this decline, chiefly among them the French Revolution, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, the Renaissance, and specifically to England, the series of civil wars and the passing of the Acts of Supremacy by Henry VIII.

All of these steps over the course of four hundred years saw a gradual reduction of Catholic faith and duty with a contrasting continued insistence on the power of the individual, a precursor to the modern blight of the heightened worship of the self. Men rebelled against the Godly order of power, responsibility and duty set out within the feudal system, and this rebellion while on the surface was sold as giving personal power to the average man, was instead a Trojan horse that stripped men of the duty that they owed to those above them and that those above them owed to them.

Mr Turner on several occasions in his article mentions the clearing of the commons as well as the enclosures. These events were permissible due to the fact that the bond between the elite nobility and the average man had been corrupted, displaced and severed. In short, once the nobility had been taken care of then the land was ripe for the plunder. And those doing the plundering were loyal only to the power of the pound sterling. There was nobody to protect the average man from the politicians.

Today we suffer under the yoke of Materialism of which there are three forms – Fascism, Communism, and Liberalism. Liberalism does the most damage as it endures for far longer than the other two examples, with Fascism burning out the quickest. The vehicle for Liberalism is the trick known as modern democracy. With modern democracy those in charge of the field upon which it plays out are always the winners. So to play the democratic game is to lose. In that sense, Frank Wright and Restore Britain are either ignorant of this fact or they are well aware of it. Either way, Restore Britain will simply mean more of the same but with another spin on the democratic wheel, this time positioned for a swing to the far right. More laws will be passed, and more rights of the average man successively stripped away in a repeat of that laid out by Mr Turner of what happened as a consequence of the Great War.

What the imposter elites most fear is a return of real faith. All of their work over hundreds of years has been specifically designed to destroy that faith and to seduce men with worthless baubles. A return of faith and a restoration of our real elites would be a miracle. But God works in miracles, and faith can sometimes only return when men are so desperate that they see no other option. We can see for ourselves the results of rejecting God’s order, of rejecting what is good and beautiful and true. I believe that this all needed to play out in the way that it has so that when the natural order is restored then men will not be so easily swayed by Wormtongues.

Things still need to play out, and while I would like to think that we are close to a return of the faith, perhaps things need to get much worse and many more decades are needed before such a turnaround is achieved. But we can still work on our own and our family’s faith, on the faith of our communities, as well as people around the nation by way of vehicles such as the internet. But of one thing I am certain, this will not be solved in some secular democratic fashion. It will require the Church Militant and a muscular Christianity.
