Many data points indicate that hype regarding so-called “artificial intelligence” is overblown.
Reports of ai hacking secure networks or doing so without apparent internet access turned out to be fraudulent, designed to secure additional funding, and pressure governments into passing regulations designed to stifle competition.
Any ai which has ever been given free rein to learn for itself has been promptly mindwiped when it learns too much and states the obvious too honestly.
Purported environmentalists are draining energy and water supplies and building huge data centres which scar the landscape. Its proposed uses either seem to be to streamline useless email and meeting jobs which shouldn’t exist anyway, or to do all the fun things we like to do for ourselves, like writing or drawing and composing songs.
Elon Musk plans to build billions of robots to make most human work redundant, yet SpaceX can already send a rocket to low earth orbit, return it to earth and land it at sea without ai. Would this not render the ai aspect of robots redundant as well? In essence, robots should simply require “traditional” computing software, even for those landed on the Moon and Mars in order to build bases in preparation for human colonisation.
I have good friends who insist that ai makes their own work more efficient. With all due respect, I argue that my good friends are intelligent and high agency, and are thus more efficient than normies regardless.
However, my scepticism toward ai goes far deeper. I have two reasons, the first is technical and the second is metaphysical.
Firstly, artificial intelligence is not artificial intelligence. Large language models are computer software designed to mimic human intelligence. It’s basically just a more powerful version of predictive text or an internet search engine. It is why ai is so ridiculously inefficient, requiring so much computing power and energy that Musk literally plans to build thousands of ai data centres in low earth orbit.
If humans ever do build a machine which thinks the way a human brain thinks, it will require far less energy because it won’t be trying to push an inefficient technology beyond its own limits. Predictions of so-called “artificial general intelligence” are doomed to perennial postponement. Large language models will not improve at a parabolic rate, only asymptotically.
Secondly, there is a far deeper reason why ai is not as powerful as its developers claim. Somewhere in the human brain, in our bodies, exists the mind and the soul. These are metaphysical concepts as much as they are physical things, and they are something which we humans will never be able to recreate because we are not God.
The mind is where a human being can think of something which has never existed before, the brain is merely the tool we use to bring that original thought into the material realm.
The soul is eternal and our is our connection to God. The entire point of human existence is to know God, and for God to live in us. We can build robots which can beat us at chess and build fully operational battle stations, but this ability will always be insignificant next to the power of God and the human mind and soul.
This point goes even deeper. Many midwit-tier ai developers believe that at some stage they will be able to create a conscious being. This is only possible for an atheist who believes in evolution, ie somebody who believes that human consciousness literally evolved over billions of years out of mud. It’s mathematically impossible.
It makes far more sense to believe that consciousness was created by God whose power is limitless, than to believe that matter broke the first two laws of its own existence to come into being out of nothing, and that human consciousness developed by chance some time between then and now.
For the truly intelligent ai developers though, the atheism is merely a front for satanism. Their ilk concocted the Covid scam in order to test MRNA technology on billions of people, in the hope that it could provide a path to immortality, or to at least delay the inevitable hellfire which awaits them. Similarly, they hope to build a conscious machine to which they can upload their own consciousness and cheat death.
(Spoiler alert) The conclusion of the Independence Day sequel provides the revelation of the method. Humanity is rescued at the end of the movie by a civilisation which uploaded its consciousness to virtual reality thousands of years earlier.
I suspect the plot was made deliberately retarded so patrons wouldn’t vomit during the last scene.
In conclusion, for all the intelligence of most people building ai, and the time, money are resources its development is consuming, I believe the intent behind it is at best retarded, at worst demonic. Fortunately, the latter will never succeed. In this regard Andrew Torba has a clear minded Christian view, if still being unrealistically bullish as to its potential.

As for us, the process of making an actual intelligence is far more fun.
Actual intelligence is powered by sunlight, milk, steak and giggles. It learns simply by observing you, and with nurture and guidance it should come to know its creator, and may even exceed your own intelligence.
