Choose Christ

Tradition is the act of living in accordance with the faith of our forefathers which means rejecting the sin of modernism. It has nothing to do with becoming a Luddite, or of renouncing the inventions of our time. I wrote more about what it means to be a traditional Catholic in this piece.

That being said, it is always a good idea to be prudent and to exercise restraint in embracing whatever wondrous marvels the world throws at us. Everything is tainted with the venom of lies. Our Church is tainted, our hospitals, our governments, our schools and universities, our food, our history, our societies, our media and entertainment, and our communities. All of it has been twisted and deformed, and those who protest are labelled mad and enemies of the state.

Such as it has always been. The world has always hated Christ and His followers. So it is enough to choose Him and to never renounce Him no matter how the world persecutes you for your disloyalty to the earthly powers. Our choice is not America or Iran, it is Christ. Our choice is not voting for the left or the right, it is Christ. My stance on the fake Covid vaccines was primarily influenced by Christ. The idea that I would seek to benefit from the murder of aborted babies merely to ward off some supposed physical danger is and was anathema to me.

They use the terror of death against us. We are bombarded by materialism while they exhort us to cast away God and to reject the idea of a spiritual life. Then when we submit to materialism the only thing that we possess is this world, and so we cling to it with a maniacal intensity. With such a submission we become powerless to their threats. We become their pawns and playthings, and they amuse themselves at our expense.

Covid worked because most people in the world are slaves to materialism. They are petrified of death and real sacrifice is unknown to them. Christ freed us from death. If you have done your best to live in a state of grace, to repent of your sins and to use your remaining time wisely then death is the beginning. It is the moment when we are reunited with God. You need to be ready to die today. Not tomorrow, or in twenty or thirty years time, but today. You need to have your house in order today. You need to be in a state of grace, to be confessed, to be working every day to bring yourself closer to God and to be worthy of Him. Not at the moment when your airplane begins to fall out of the sky.

Tradition then does not mean withdrawing from the world. It doesn’t mean living on a homestead and growing your own food. It’s fine to do that, I have no issue with it, I do it myself, grow food that is. But that is not what tradition is. In my opinion there are too many trads seeking to withdraw from the world and not enough doing their bit to influence their communities.

I am reading a book called Tobacco Culture which examines the great tobacco planters of Virginia in the years leading up to the American revolution. Those men wielded great influence and were able to directly influence the course of major events, for better or for worse. The battles which we fight today are the same as those fought in the past by our ancestors, the only difference is the technology available; the enemies are the same as are the majority of the strategies that they employ.

I think that it behoves us as men of Christ to use every means at our disposal to fight the enemy and rally men to our side, regardless of the personal cost. Christ Himself never promised us anything different so we might as well willingly shoulder our cross with joy and affection. Perhaps you have it within you to become a great planter of our age, and to directly affect the course of events that swirl around us. Do it freely, but do it only with Christ. Remember that when there is a choice, there is no choice, because He is our choice.

With such an attitude the events of the world become easy to navigate as our path is always clear. Pray daily that God gives you strength and the peace of mind to resist the enemy so he is not able to cloud your judgement, to confuse you with false thoughts, or to tempt you into sin. The time of tradition is now.
