The Worry-Health-Money-Death spiral

A woman asked a bunch of men some questions about aging and then wrote it up, you can read the final part here. The majority of the responses are men worrying about their health, then money, and finally random shit like will anyone turn up to their funeral, (probably not, loser.)

I found the entire exercise to be rather ridiculous, because the premise itself is flawed. To worry is a practical sign that you do not have faith in God. And I noticed that with all the talk of what they are worried about when they die, not one man responded with even a mention of God, let alone a healthy fear of standing before Him.

I don’t worry about health because I take care of myself, I eat well, I drink well and I smoke well. If God desires that I learn a particular lesson, or perhaps grow a particular virtue then he might bless me with an illness so that by my suffering I may draw closer to Him. Until that does or does not happen then I will do as I have always done. This means avoiding doctors and pharmaceuticals at all costs. The thought of a checkup fills me with alarm. I am 55 years old and I do not know my blood type let alone my cholesterol level, although I hope that it is nice and high.

I don’t worry about money either because I mostly haven’t got any. But my needs are met because they are simple. I don’t have investments and I am pretty sure that I will work to the day I die because I want to work until the day I die. Men work, it is what we do. Retirement? That was unheard of before the socialist twentieth century, and nobody will be retiring once the fake money train stops its fakery. So goodbye to retirement, and good riddance too. It was always fake and gay.

I have never bought into the modern world of fake work so the skills that I have, the work that I can do and the experience under my belt means that yes, I can keep working. But hang on, Adam – perhaps you will get sick and then you cannot work and the fact that you have no savings means that you will be in trouble! Ah-ha, I’ve got you there!

So what? Why prolong the suffering? That’s all that modern medicine is designed to do. Draw out the suffering for as long as possible so as to milk every last penny out of the patient and then let him die when the money runs out. And because men are so obsessed with health and living for as long as possible, (see once again the responses to the woman’s questions), and that they have forgotten God and that we are here to be forged in fire and that our suffering on earth will prepare us for everlasting life, then they fall into the worry-health-money-death spiral. It goes like this:

You worry about your health and money which means your mind is focussed on fear and negativity. Your mind is more powerful than your body, and it can even convince your body to die when it is not actually sick.

You get sick because that is what you are focussed on. You enter the medical-industrial complex as a wide eyed and fearful patient which means that you are doomed.

You agree to the treatments that the doctors assure you are your very best option. It mostly turns out that the treatments almost never work as intended and often result in the death of the patient, but they still cost an awful lot of money, just about all of the money that you had saved away for a rainy day. Great for the doctors, not so great for leaving any of your family any money.

You die and find out that God actually does exist, Catholicism is true, and we do in fact pay for our sins after we die.

Not one man interviewed mentioned that little scenario. Not a single one. I am not worried about standing before God. No, I am deathly afraid. I am afraid that He will look me up and down and then say that He never knew me. And if that occurs then I know that it will have been because of my own actions here on earth where I rejected Him.

That’s something to be worried about. All of the rest is dust in the wind.
