Jeff Kennett insists that we must help the uniparty defeat the uniparty.
From Sky News:
Former Victorian Liberal premier Jeff Kennett has called for his party to strike a preference deal with One Nation in order to ensure the “corrupt” Allan government is defeated at the next election….
With Victorians due to head to the polls in November, the former premier claimed the Coalition must take whatever steps necessary to ensure victory.
This included teaming up with One Nation and independents to ensure Labor was denied preferences, with Mr Kennett suggesting a broad alliance would also help to repair the damage done to Victoria under the Andrews and Allan governments post-election.
“Every party, every individual that stands at the state election should be committed to putting Labor last,” he said.
“It would be inconceivable that any reasonable person would want to give Labor any chance of breathing after the election.”
Ditto for the Liberal Party.
Kennett is correct to highlight Labor’s innate corruption, but appears blind to the Liberal Party’s complete collapse in public trust. Generations of Liberal politicians presented as patriots while betraying Aussies via mass replacement immigration; The federal Liberal government did precisely nothing to curb the Covid Tyranny of the state Labor premiers; and support for Labor’s horrendous “hatespeech” bill was the last straw.
Although not alone in his delusion regarding why Aussies no longer trust the Liberal Party, Kennett is at least acknowledging too late that One Nation cannot be ignored. Victoria’s current mob are still in denial:
Whether the Victorian opposition will heed Mr Kennett’s warning remains unclear.
State Liberal leader Jess Wilson recently withdrew from an event featuring new One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce following repeated claims from Ms Allan the opposition leader was “cosying up” to the Pauline Hanson-led party.
Support for the minor party has surged in Victoria in recent months, with a DemosAU/PremierNational poll showing One Nation now enjoyed 21 per cent primary support in the state, just two point fewer than Labor – 23 per cent.
The Coalition polled only eight points ahead on 29 per cent.
Despite the benefits of striking a preference deal with One Nation, some state Liberal MPs remain concerned an agreement could actually damage the party’s chances.
Sceptics argue associating with the minor party would risk alienating centrist metropolitan voters key to winning enough seats to form government.
This is entirely back to front.
One Nation will cripple its own reputation and electoral viability by having anything to do with the Liberal Party. Support is surging for One Nation because Aussies perceive it as representing our interests. The Liberal Party is tanking because it has betrayed us.
A parallel exists in Great Britain, where Rupert Lowe was betrayed by a Reform UK party infiltrated by establishment politicians responsible for the demographic catastrophe which Reform UK was founded to reverse. In response he has founded Restore Britain, with an explicit focus on repatriating millions of foreigners, and only recruiting candidates from outside the political establishment.
The genuinely British nationalist Restore appears set to overwhelm the milquetoast Reform, just as it was on the cusp of achieving some electoral impact.
One Nation should pay attention. It should not water down its policies to appeal to the mythic “centre” and it must not have anything to do with the establishment parties. Its goal must be to destroy both Liberal and Labor, otherwise a more genuine nationalist party will take its place.
