It’s easy to create publicity for people whom many already know. The trials and tribulations of Tom Sewell or Joel Davis garner international attention, and fundraisers for legal fees are spontaneous, generous and widely publicised.
But for every high profile case there are also people minding their own business who get caught in the crossfire. When they do, much more of an effort has to be made to get them publicity and keep it going for the injustice they are subjected to and it’s generally harder to raise funds for them.
Ryan Turner has never expressed his political beliefs publicly. On 31st August 2025 he came to the Perth March for Australia event to meet a girl he liked and, being a rather sociable chap, talked to a bunch of people, including myself and others wearing all black clothes that day.
For this horrendous crime he was photographed. It turned out Ryan was a professional MMA fighter and trainer. He discovered that these guys wearing black exercised together once a week and occasionally that would involve some sparring practice, where one or two of the guys in the group who attended amateur MMA gyms would try and pass on their limited knowledge.
“I’ll come along and give you a few pointers if you like” Ryan offered. Which he did. Why shouldn’t he have? We were all law abiding men and peaceful and Ryan has a passion for MMA and anyone interested in it.
From there Ryan was offered a few dollars to come and do it again. Which he did again.
This caused more photographs from counterterrorism police hiding in the bushes at the local park and Ryan being added to a list for investigation. Especially on the occasions when he participated in the sausage sizzle afterwards (I’m loath to admit it, but on one occasion someone brought a German würst which probably sealed his fate.)
Now it is worth pointing out at this juncture that none of the men Ryan coached or any man anywhere in the country who were part of the larger organisation had ever been charged with terrorism or even suspected of planning to do any, or advocating anyone else to do so. We just lifted weights together, went jogging and hiking together and did sparring in the park together once a week.
None of this mattered to Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke. Our group was made up exclusively of White men so we were all therefore a “hate group”, soon to have laws passed against it and any other group that might ever be a critic of multiculturalism again.
Ryan was arrested and his deportation was ordered. Not because he had overstayed his visa. Not because he had committed a crime. Not because he had taken part in a police approved legal protest that Tony Burke didn’t like. Not even for saying anything publicly against Tony Burke’s sacred multiculturalism.
Ryan had done none of these things. Ryan was assumed to have a “bad moral character” for simply associating with people who had legal political opinions that Tony Burke didn’t like. Assumed to have the same political opinions as us because he was seen associating with us.
I was one of those people Ryan had associated with.
I believe Tony Burke doesn’t like the political opinions of Mark Latham, David Leyonhjelm or Peter Abetz either. I name drop these political opponents of Mr Burke because all three of them had spent more time in my company in much more social and political settings than Ryan Turner had spent with me before he was arrested.
Tony Burke believes Ryan Turner is a “Nazi” sympathiser because he has been observed in a semi-social/semi-political setting with people who don’t care that they have been labelled “Nazis”. Does he believe the same thing about Latham, Leyonhjelm and Abetz? Are they next to be deported?
Ryan Turner has never had breakfast with me to discuss politics. Mark Latham has. Ryan Turner hasn’t spent two seperate nights drinking in the pub with me chatting about our cats after a political seminar. David Leyonhjelm has.
Ryan Turner hasn’t been at a house party of a mutual friend chatting with me about Jesus Christ and the Covid lockdowns on two seperate occasions. Peter Abetz has.
Are they to be tarnished for life for having previous dealings with me? Am I to be thought of like Jeffrey Epstein where everyone I have ever spoken to over my entire life is to be instantly labelled as a “Nazi” like Piers Morgan is labelled a pedophile by some, because he is mentioned in passing in the files?
Tony Burke doesn’t like me. Maybe you dont like me. What’s that got to do with Ryan?
Ryan is a very likeable guy. Just naturally at ease with anybody he talks to. A few days after his arrest he phoned me from his cell. He’d asked someone for my number. “Hey Steve, it’s Ryan. How the fuck did you survive 13 weeks in solitary? I’ve been in here just a couple of days and I’m ready to top myself.”
Do you think I wouldn’t support Mark Latham, David Leyonhjelm or Peter Abetz if they called me from prison after being arrested for previously socialising with me? Doesn’t it make sense to call someone who’s been in jail to ask for advice on how to survive jail? Would that then prove any of these men held similar views on immigrstion or race as I do? Would it make them of “bad character”? Or would you judge these men based on their own deeds and opinions rather than mine?
Is Piers Morgan a replusive figure to be mocked and despised because his name appears randomly in a file, or does the fact he’s a jerk on TV with a wife who plays with a black “Mr Sudds” in the swimming pool whenever he’s away, have more to do with it? Maybe he is a pedophile as well but we used to require a little more evidence than simply having met one, to be one.
Ryan Turner may or may not share some or all of my political views, but he chose not to publicly air any of them before he was arrested and jailed and before Tony Burke tried to deport him based on what the Burke assumed Ryan’s opinions to be.
I have been very cautious in advocating for Ryan, lest my advocacy is taken as proof of his guilt by association. But Tony Burke already thinks that and Ryan doesn’t have enough money to pay his lawyer for his appeal. So either I risk advocating for him again or he gets deported anyway due to an inabilty to fund his defence.
When you are just a guy caught in the political crossfire, it takes much more effort to get the help you need. I’m making that effort.
Ryan’s case is much worse than anything the State has done before.
Whereas Matthew Gruter was deported for expressing a legal opinion Tony Burke didn’t like, Ryan may be deported for simply exercising with people Tony Burke doesn’t like the opinions of.
This means literally everyone is now at risk.
There are many more names I could drop than just Mark Latham and co who could be associated with me. Many influencers from the Covid era who currently turn a blind eye whenever the State persecutes an actual “Nazi”. Will they stay silent again?
Because I’m not the only person with my views who has had connections to them.
What makes them think they won’t be next?
Because it may surprise many of them to know that White Nationalists interact daily with lots of different people who don’t all share their political views. We all have this amazing abilty to act like normal human beings. They will just never know they’ve been having a friendly chat with one of us until they see us on Ben Shapiro’s latest podcast in an exposé picture with them at a restaurant eating a Weiner schnitzel. They can claim it’s actually a Chicken Parma all they want, it won’t save them. Tony Burke will find out they were associating with a “Nazi” and that will be the end of them.
I may be ridiculing them and the situation, but it’s still the truth. Today’s satire is tomorrow’s reality.
Freedom of opinion and speech is long dead in this country. Will they stand by as freedom of association is destroyed too?
Is the label of “Nazi”, still the Kryptonite that can cause all Conservatives and Libertarians to recoil like a man wearing red undepants on top of his blue tights? Will they champion the cause of Ryan or will they abandon their principles again because “Nazis” like me are also involved?
Whatever they do, I urge you to support Ryan’s fight to stay in Australia. Please donate to help Ryan if you can and spread the message about his case so that he has a better chance of success:
