Quote of the Day: Western politics in sum

1
William Penn. From Wikipedia.

Tonight’s Quote of the Day is by William Penn, “real estate entrepreneur, philosopher, early Quaker, and founder of the English North American colony the Province of Pennsylvania,” and comes courtesy of Rod Lampard:

“There is a troublesome disposition some men have, that if they may not lead, they will not follow; but had rather a thing were never done, than not done their own way, though other ways are very desirable. This comes of an over-fullness of ourselves; and shows we are more concerned for praise, than the success of what we know is a good thing to be done.”

(William Penn, Some fruits of solitude in Maxims and Reflections, 1682)
