Food for thought – Fresh water for the Garden State

Today I was reading a top notch summary by Scott White from Sorell over the Greens “idiotic attitude” to lobbying against technologically innovative infrastructure like the Gordon-below-Franklin dam.

I personally still can’t reconcile how The Australian Greens can blast the bass strait fresh water pipeline proposal. While Tasmania receives a huge percentage of Australia’s overall annual rainfall (to which the majority runs out to sea via river systems) the excess water could’ve been commoditised to Victoria (aka “The Garden State”).

Such a pipeline proposal makes a heck of a lot more sense than the North South pipeline, from the notoriously low Eildon to Melbourne, that Labor put in last decade.

The Bass Strait fresh water pipeline is gravity fed, which means it doesn’t require power.

But don’t take my word for it listen to the legend himself Topher Field.
